Pricing and Policy for 2017

Tuition:  Payment is due at the first lesson of each month as follows, plus additional cost of books or fees as noted in the assignment notebook (please check it at the end of each month):

Thirty minute lessons: $108 per month (weekly lessons)
Forty-five minute lessons: $148 per month (weekly lessons)
Siblings taking one 30-minute and one 45-minute lesson weekly: $240 per month (weekly lessons) for both.

Practice:  Regular daily practice at home is necessary in order to progress. 20-30 minutes per day for beginners, 30-45 minutes for intermediate, and an hour per day for advanced students is reasonable. Please have the piano tuned at least once a year, repair as necessary, and keep it in a quiet place in the house, if possible.

Achievement in Music Exams:  The Illinois State Music Teachers Association, of which I am a past local president, administers theory and performance exams to track students' progress. Hundreds of students take part at Wheaton College every year, and find the experience motivating. Some of my students participate, and there is a fee of $20 to enter. Most students are ready to enter the exams after about 2 years of study.

Recital:  Our yearly recital was held in the beautiful new sanctuary at the DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church in Naperville on April 30, 2017.

Concerts:  Be sure to get out and hear live music in the area. I recommend Wheaton College, College of DuPage, and North Central College (don't miss the fabulous Wentz Concert Hall in Naperville!) Also Elmhurst   Symphony, DuPage Symphony, West Suburban Symphony, and lots of outdoor concerts, many of them free!
